Alan and The Panic (Feb 9, 1996).

A wonderful woman invited me to go hear the Widespread Panic show. Since I'd heard Widespread around the Georgia music scene and since they seem to be attracting a large portion of the disenfranchised Dead crowd, I was very interested in hearing them play now that they're on a major label. (Of course, a more than passing interest in said woman added to the incentive. :-) After an evening to swirling dancers, beer and the steady flow of music some images came to mind...

Localized Panic

rising. shifting. twisting through the beat.
bobbing among a multitude but linked to only one.
a pull from behind, a focus. the music.
felt. Beauty and Spirit watched. magnetic.

swaying. swimming. an arm's length uncrossable.
it makes no sense to me.
drawn, yet pulled apart. the past. scars. years. tears.
an attraction to the music. the attraction to the beautiful.
is it one feeding the other?
or is there an equality of interaction?
   the producer and the receiver?
the magnet and the simple metal so effected?
or mortar and brick combined to create the whole?

localized panic.
