A close encounter with a crush...(Nov 18, 1996).

Its hell being shy...

Now

I see you at work from across the room
and wonder what it would be like...
to go see a movie together
and sit up all night talking
to watch candlelight play in your hair
and shadows dance along your brow
but its too early for that now.

I see you at the bar in animated conversation
and wonder what it would be like...
to wake up next to you some snowy morning
and watch the blanks hug the curve of your hips
to listen to the quiet sleepy breath
and see your eyes closed in dreamy imagination
but its too soon for that now.

I see there isn't a message on the answering machine
and wonder what it would be like...
to have you remember we'd planned to get together
and to think you want to be near me
to hear you asking if I'm home yet
and if I'd like to come over for tea
but its too close for that now.

I see you in the city with your new date
and wonder if I should tell you...
how glad I am to see you smiling
and watch the lightness of your steps.
to tell you how I feel when you look my way
and flush when you say my name
but its too late for that now.
